As a recruiter, I use the same keyword tactics when searching for candidates as I did when I was searching for opportunities as a job seeker. When I’m trying to come up with that perfect string for a keyword search, I pull up the description of the position that I am recruiting for, identify key terms, and plug those directly into the search bar. As things are continuously evolving in the library and information science field and a wider array of language is used to describe similar responsibilities, it can be difficult to identify the terms that the recruiter’s search and the candidate’s resume will have in common. From the job seekers perspective, it can be challenging to find opportunities when you aren’t using the same language as the job description your looking for.
