Wayne State U. Launches LIS School

Citing growth in enrollment and the richness of offerings at the Library and Information Science Program at Wayne State University in Detroit, the university’s Board of Governors has approved the creation of a School of Library and Information Science, to open Spring/Summer 2009.

The LIS Program has grown from 125 students in 1987 to nearly 600 graduate students now enrolled.

Wayne State has the highest rank among LIS programs that lack a doctoral component.

Previous, Wayne notably offered an online LIS degree.
